Meeting Schedule

The S.A.M. Assembly 59 meets at the Beaverton Elks Lodge (location outlined below) nearly every month on the fourth Wednesday.  We do not have regular meetings in July, August (when we hold our Family Picnic), and December.  The meetings are open to all members of Assembly 59 as well as any current S.A.M. or S.Y.M. Regular or Associate members.  If you are now visiting or plan to be in our area in the future, please stop by and join us.  Our meetings are relaxed and informative, and we always welcome anyone with a genuine and sincere interest in Magic.  Guests of members are invited to our meetings.  Our Teach-In session is normally reserved for members only, but guests may be admitted to this session with prior arrangement with the Teach-In Chairperson or other Assembly Officer.  CLICK HERE to contact us via email if you are interested in attending as our guest.  Here is our typical meeting night agenda:

        7:45PM            Business Meeting

ACTIVITY DEFINITIONS:

Teach-In:  Typically a 45-minute lesson taught by one or more skilled members or guests.  Topics can be anything related to the magic art: how-to's of effects, performance skills, showmanship, marketing, etc.

ShowTime:  Members sign up to perform an effect related to the evening's theme or other topic.  Provides the basis for our Entertainer of the Year Award.

StarLight Magic:  Two or more tables are set up, each with a skilled instructor.  These people are assigned to teach a different specific topic, effect, routine, or technique.  Lessons will repeat at each table so members can go from table to table during an evening to maximize learning opportunities.

Swap Meet: Members bring effects to swap with or sell to other members.  This usually follows the magic convention season where people sometimes buy effects that are excess to their needs.  Lots of fun...great bargains.

Weekly Luncheons

The S.A.M. Assembly 59 sponsors no-host luncheons every Tuesday, 11:30 A.M., at the Beaverton Elks Lodge.  These weekly events attract magicians who are hungry for magic and the company of other magicians.  There's no pressure to perform magic, but seeing a new trick is always a welcome event.  There's no club business, but many great ideas for the Assembly often originate here.  Just join us to have lunch from the cafeteria and then sit and talk magic with other area magicians.  You don't have to be a member of S.A.M. 59 nor the Elks Lodge to break bread with us.

Meeting Location

Beaverton Elks Lodge #1989, 3500 S.W. 104th Avenue, Beaverton, Oregon 97005.  Take Oregon Hiway 217 to the Canyon Road (Oregon Highway 8) exit.  Head east on Canyon Road about one-half mile to 104th Avenue and turn left.  The Elks Lodge is straight ahead about two blocks north of Canyon Road.  If you need help, you can call the Lodge at 503-646-6116.
